Stand still, you ever moving spheres of heaven,
that time may cease, and midnight never come ...

Into The Night

i was 16 when i first heard this song - many years ago .. while i didn't quite understand the significance of it deeper meaning, i always knew i loved it for a reason ..

earlier tonight, i responded to another blogger's post about 'falling' for a friend .. you know that old instance - when friends become lovers .. ? the old adage - you don't see what's in front of you ?

how many countless songs or movies have been written and portrayed about this situation .. ?

train's 'drops of jupiter' rang true for many of us .. what about the movie 'reality bites' where winona ryder and ethan hawke get blasted by the 'fall' unexpectedly .. wooaah !! sometimes, it comes out of left field .. when we least expect it ..

anyhow, i seem to go off on tangents, but i wanted to post the clip to benny mardones' 'into the night' .. just a timeless reminder that we aren't always prepared for love and don't always know when, where or how cupid's arrow will strike us - quite often with sudden precision ..

anyway, there wasn't an original clip made for it - but here's one that someone else did make for it ..

it is the fool that runs in the other direction who misses the magic and mayhem .. i think we've all been there - petrified of the fall, fearing the intensity, the loss of control, scared of plummeting down into those depths ..

when love beckons, let him in ... throw caution and get on that rollercoaster ride - next time, i know i will ..

A Woman

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward
to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill,
and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh...
and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture
not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a feeling of control over her destiny....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder...
and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...
but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. ..
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Queen of the Damned

after coming home late tonight, i turned on the tv to check out the late night movies and caught the classic 'disclosure' with demi moore and michael douglas - then another cult classic 'the lost boys' came on after that. not sure if you've guessed by now (via my blogger name), but i LOVE vampires and all things vamp related - music, movies, images .. but more on that later ;p

while bram stoker's 'dracula' with bela lugosi may be an obvious cult classic for some, lugosi's portrayal of (arguably) the best well-known onscreen blood sucking creature of the night may be signature (and still a myriad more vampire classics that i have yet to watch), apart from cruise & pitt's 'interview with the vampire' made famous by anne rice's novels, 'queen of the damned' with aaliyah and stuart townsend is one of the sexiest vamp films out there, despite perhaps the plot and the acting - it is the soundtrack which captivated and TURNED me on .. so sensual and seductive - therein began my bloodlust tendencies .. LOL !!

this is one of the best made video clips for the movie to one of my favourite songs on the soundtrack - 'slept so long' by jay gordon of the band 'orgy' .. enjoy fellow fanglings!

We Never Danced

as an addendum to the last blog post, there is this movie that i watched a long time ago (so long ago i can't even remember when i first watched it - probably in my teens actually) but it is 'actually' the theme song which resonated with me earlier in those soul-seeking days. years later i found myself a copy of the dvd via ebay and began re-living both the movie and song, which i'm about to share with you called 'we never danced'.

'made in heaven' (1987) stars timothy hutton and kelly mcgillis is based on the concept of fate, destiny, synchronicity and soul mates. yeh yeh, i know what you're thinking but these themes strike a chord in my heart of heart and soul of souls alrighty? ;)

Date With Destiny

earlier this evening, i was introduced to a fortune teller, clairvoyant or psychic - whichever name you choose for someone who bestows such ability or skill upon others. i've haven't seen one for a couple of years - perhaps some fall short of my expectation, whilst the ones that do hit the nail on the head are few and far between - most just generalise. i'm sure i don't need to preach to the converted or justify myself to any skeptics out there, but i'm an intuitive empath myself with a keen sixth sense - i believe most of us have that innate ability if we know how to invariably tap into them. alrighty? damn good then!

i was told that this psychic was of a high calibre so i thought why not? he preceded to take down the usual details - my name and date of birth and began analysing my numerological birth chart. he reiterated my current situation this month with high accuracy, especially the headspace i had been in of late - suffice to say, he said august was the worst month of the year for me (for a few reasons) but that things would get better next month. hmmm .. wishful thinking on my part or his? lol ..

he then proceeded to tell me that in a certain number of years i would be married (?) to the man of my dreams - and by 'dreams', he meant it quite literally because i have met my soul mate / twin flame a couple of times in my dream state, so i know that 'he' exists somewhere out there. i've had a couple of signs, dreams and premonitions - along with other psychics telling me that my guy was coming, but i have always known this for myself anyway and knew it would only be a matter of time.

however the tone and manner in which this particular psychic relayed this information took me by surprise - he seemed more astounded than i did and kept saying that this perfect beau was 'everything' i had dreamed of and wanted in a partner, 'everything' in 'every' way. it was almost as if he was more blown away by it than i was. he mentioned a few other details and timings on when we would meet (yes, he gave me a rough month & year) .. but i don't want to pre-empt the universe just yet, so we'll see what happens shall we?

he also mentioned two businesses / projects that i just started - very interesting that he picked up on both of them, but didn't elude to much beyond that - so perhaps not much detail to be had there or .. something else ? He did discuss using and protecting my own intuitive and psychic abilities - again, another lifetime work-in-progress project for those of us who know and share the path anyway.

all in all, i'd give him 6-6.5 out of 10 - perhaps a 7 if the dream lover materialises in the time, way, shape or form he predicted. for now, i'm content to just nod off and dream about my dream lover - in private thanks :) .. nighty night .. zzzz

A Time For Madness

Once more,
Love is pouring down my ceiling
and my walls.
Once more, it's the night of the full moon,
it is time for madness.
All my immense knowledge
cannot help me now.

Once more,
Insomnia took my patience.
Rain washed away my intellect.
The Lover made me lose my profession.
What good is my work anyway?

Once more, rise, rise, rise,

Like the way a garden burns
in a hundred shades of orange in the fall,
a Lover's heart shrivels
for a sense of the Beloved's touch.
Now the face of that charred garden
is my field of flowers.

Look two hundred Jupiters
are dancing around my moon.

~ Rumi ~

i have always held a special place in my heart for the persian mystic sufi poet - his words intoxicate me into a slight trembling within the deepest recesses of my soul.

ever since i went to see the whirling dervishes at the sydney opera house many years ago (by myself too), i was profoundly stirred by their mesmerising performance. how sublime to watch an entourage of men draped in white swirling around (for up to an hour at a time) in sheer ecstasy with the divine ... it was truly breath-taking!

whilst living in japan a couple of years ago, i was lucky to attend a special night by a travelling performing group 'caravan' who took us along an exotic journey down the silk road via persian music and sufi poetry - amazing! larger than life candles decked out at the front of the stage, delicious chai tea, oriental cushions and spices to ignite a decadent night over some more rumi poetry ...

The Quickening

perhaps what first comes to mind when hearing the phrase 'the quickening' is the term used in pregnancies to describe an initial motion or movement in the foetus by the pregnant mother.

others not so maternal may recall the movie and series "the highlander" - where every time an 'immortal' is beheaded, a powerful energy is released from their body called "the quickening", much like an electrical power surge during a storm or even of a massive orgasm as described by one of the producers.

for me, i prefer the more esoteric meaning (not dissimilar to a vampire's 'awakening') but that which others before me (like ken wilber) have already written about - the emergence of a new spiritual renaissance. by that, i do not necessarily mean a wishy washy new age kinda fad .. but a precipitation of an internal movement, an inner life that some may refer to as a heightening of a new awareness or consciousness.

with the increasingly rapid pace of technological development and advancement through sophisticated and intelligent digital media (unheard of hundreds of years ago), scientists and forward-thinking social entrepreneurs have begun to postulate theories of an increase in human consciousness. millions of years ago, it was biological evolution that was accelerating and only a century before now, was the advent of massive industrial breakthroughs.

it is highly plausible that the development and expansion of human consciousness could lead us into the next stage of a more spiritually intelligent evolution. this is where i am excited - for i believe that with further exploration, the human mind is indeed already participating in the next step towards a new evolution - i have no doubt that some of us are already partaking in this movement and have been for some time now.

it will only be a matter of time before the masses catch on ...
